Food packaging play a primary role in keeping the food supply among the safest in the world. Simply stated, packaging maintains the benefits of food processing after the process is complete. So, this year Food Packaging 2017 is focusing on the theme “Food Pack 2017: Research and Advancement” to maintain or increase the quality and safety of food in a collaborative approach.
This conference Foodpackaging2017 is initiated with the valuable suggestions and constant encouragement of our Open Access Journals i.e. Journal of Food Processing & Technology, Journal of Food & Industrial Microbiology and Journal of Experimental Food Chemistry Editorial Board Members which brought all of us together here. We are therefore providing a brilliant platform for researchers to share and explore their knowledge, publishing their research work in open access journals and presenting their research reports in this annual conclave.

Symposium on Application of Nanotechnology in Food Contacting Packaging System


Nowadays, development of biodegradable polymer for food packaging system is a big issue due to the growing serious environmental problem caused by using massive amount of plastic material. However, drawbacks of biodegradable polymer to apply in food packaging system are brittleness, high gas permeability, poor moisture barrier property and low heat resistance of bio-based materials. An application of nanotechnology in food packaging system can overcome those issues. Recently, nanotechnology is widely used in food packing area such as 1) nano barcodes for tracking and sensing, 2) nanoscale pigments for inks, 3) nanomaterials for color without use of dyes or conventional pigments, and 4) nanomaterials electronic displays with quality paper.


Hyun Jin Park, Professor Korea University, Author of 176 SCI refereed journal articles with his role as first and/or corresponding author for 152 papers as well as 30 SCIE and others. In addition, his top ten journal articles have been cited over 1677 times by January 2016

Learn the new techniques on Nanotechnology in the food packaging industry

Nanomaterials are increasingly being used in the food packaging industry due to the range of advanced functional properties they can bring to packaging materials.In terms of consumer safety, it is important to evaluate the potential migration of packaging constituents into food and to assess their potential hazard for a comprehensive risk assessment. However, to date very few studies have been published regarding the effects of nanomaterials upon ingestion, or the potential interaction of nanomaterial-based food contact materials (FCMs) with food components
